Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
