Orbital Images Show Iran's Navy and Atomic Sites Struck by Joint US and Israeli Strikes.

A wave of US and Israeli attacks has allegedly destroyed or damaged no fewer than 11 Iranian naval vessels starting the weekend, new satellite images show, with rocket sites and nuclear sites also coming under fire.

Pictures of the southern Konarak naval base and the Bandar Abbas port facility, which sits on the Strait of Hormuz and is home to the headquarters of the Iran's naval force, depict smoke billowing from multiple warships on recent days.

Maritime Fleet Sustained Substantial Damage

Among the ships sunk was the Makran, the country's largest naval vessel which had functioned as a drone carrier. Orbital photos showed black smoke emanating from the vessel which had been docked at the Bandar Abbas base.

Intelligence assessments indicate that no fewer than five vessels at Bandar Abbas were "damaged or eliminated". Pictures of the southern end of the port show smoke emanating from the IRINS Makran, while another pair of vessels are visibly damaged, with one of them seen burning.

Over at the Konarak base, photos reveal numerous harmed ships, with expert review pointing to strikes against six vessels. Images from Monday also demonstrate that a number of buildings at the installation have been destroyed.

"For many years the Iran's leadership has threatened global maritime traffic," a senior US military official stated. "At present, there is not a single vessel from Iran underway in the Arabian Gulf, Hormuz Strait or Sea of Oman, and we will continue."

A number of vessels allegedly destroyed may have been obscured in satellite images by haze or plumes, or hit in open waters, and have not been independently verified. Additional information indicated that an Iranian vessel was sinking off the coast of Sri Lanka's territorial waters, leading to a search and rescue mission.

Missile Installations and Atomic Facilities Targeted

Neutralizing Iranian missile bases and the hindering of atomic bomb programs were listed as other goals of the air campaign. Satellite images also depicted damage at the southerly Khorgu and north-western Tabriz facilities, and at the Konarak air air base, where missile storage facilities and bunkers were targeted.

Over at the Choqa Balk-e unmanned aircraft site to the west of the city of Kermanshah, extensive destruction was identified to sheds, underground facilities and drone launch equipment.

Impact was also observed at a surveillance station at the Zahedan airbase military airport in eastern parts of the country, near the border with neighboring nations.

Of particular note, the most recent series of strikes have reportedly hit facilities at the Natanz complex – long said to be at the heart of Iran's nuclear programme. A global monitoring agency commented that the affected buildings were used for entry to the site's below-ground enrichment facility and that "no radiological consequence" was likely.

Wider Fallout and Assessment

Military analysts indicated that the attacks appeared to have "significantly degraded" the Iranian navy's capacity to carry out standard operations using its largest warships. Nevertheless, it was stressed that Tehran still has the ability to launch unconventional attacks at sea through the use of drones, midget subs and its so-called "shadow fleet" of tankers.

The overall scale of the destruction caused to Iran's defense infrastructure remains unclear, with strikes said to be ongoing. Photos also reveals considerable damage to the command center of the Iran's Revolutionary Guards in the capital Tehran.

Numerous of non-military structures also seem to have been damaged in the capital and throughout the country after the fighting escalated. Casualty figures from inside Iran suggest that a high number of civilians may have been fatally injured in the strikes.

Amid continuing hostilities, monitoring of aerial photographs will continue to document the changing military landscape.
