An extensive 60-day cruise circling the Australian Coast is being halted days after the fatal incident of an older lady who was stranded by the ship on a isolated coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a rest. The vessel sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the crew discovered the passenger was missing.

An extensive rescue mission located her body the following day.

Officials are looking into the tragedy, together with investigators and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator announced that passengers and staff on the vessel were informed that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and earlier engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that travelers would be issued a full refund, and said the company was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Regulatory bodies also issued an revised announcement, and said they had "provided a directive to the Master" prohibiting any further travelers from getting on the liner.

The offspring of the victim said that her family was "shocked and grieved that the ship left Lizard Island after an organised excursion without my parent".

In her statement, she described her parent as an "vigorous elderly person" who was a participant of a bushwalking club.

"Based on limited facts we have been informed, it seems that there was a failure of attention and basic judgment," she stated.

She continued that she hoped the investigation would be able to identify what "the company should have undertaken that might have preserved Mother's life".

"According to reports from the police that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she fell ill on the uphill trek," she stated.

"Officials suggested her to return, alone. Then the boat left, reportedly without conducting a headcount.

"During some point in that process, or soon after, she died, without company."

Organization Reaction

Via official communication, the Chief Executive confirmed that the organization was "working closely with officials to assist their inquiry".

He stated that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has occurred" and had extended its full support to the loved ones.
